In addition, we offer local history and genealogy resources for the Woodburn area, including the Woodburn Independent, on microfilm, from 1888 to the present. If you can't find what you need, we can request materials through interlibrary loan.

We also provide Internet Express computers which are Internet only (no other programs) and available for 15-minute time slots. Our system requires a library card for computer use. Out-of-area guests can book a computer with the reference staff. The library also offers wireless access to the internet. For more information about the library computers or WiFi, please see: Computer Use or call 503-982-5252.

Genealogy

The library maintains a small collection of DAR materials and other genealogy books. These items are not catalogued, so ask at the Reference desk. Our main genealogy resource is the Woodburn Independent, our local newspaper. We have microfilm of this paper back to 1888. The librarians regret that we cannot do family research for you. However, if you have the approximate date and would like an obituary, birth announcement, or marriage announcement looked up for you from the Woodburn Independent newspaper, we are happy to do that. Call the reference desk at 503-982-5252 or email us. If you have a Woodburn library card and would like to request genealogy items or newspaper microfilm from other libraries, please see our ILL page for details.
