and their parents or caregivers. See

After School,
Saturdays and Summer Programs
for Children and Young Adults
Educational and craft programs for ages
five and up. Programs are typically held once a month with additional programs
during the summer. The Events

Adult Educational Programs
These include one time lectures and events in a variety of interest
areas.

Interlibrary Loan
Through the library's membership in the Chemeketa
Cooperative Regional Library Service (CCRLS), cardholders are able
to borrow materials from any library in Polk, Yamhill or Marion Counties.
Using the On-line catalog,
holds may be made on items owned by any of the 18 member libraries for
pickup at Independence. Library users may also request materials through Interlibrary
Loan from libraries throughout the country, ask at the front desk for
assistance.
Internet Access
The library has access to the World Wide Web. You may sign up for a
half-hour time at the front desk at the library. Printing is ten cents a page. To use the library's
Internet computers you will need to have a valid library card or drivers'
license. Be sure to read a copy of the Internet
Use Guidelines and the Internet
Access Policy prior to using the system for the first time.
Public Use Computers
Ten PC's with software for ESL instruction, children's
educational programs and word processing are available.
Homebound Access
If, for medical reasons, patrons are unable to visit the library in
person, a library volunteer will be happy to deliver materials to homes
in Independence. Please contact
the library, 503-838-1811 for details about this service.
